On Tuesday morning around 3:25, the Bellefontaine Police Department observed a vehicle stopped at the northbound red light on Main Street by Columbus Avenue, partially in the intersection. When the light turned green, the driver turned on the interior light, then quickly shut it off before proceeding through the intersection.
The female registered owner was found to be under a non-compliance license suspension. The registered owner matched the description of the operator.
A traffic stop was initiated in the 200 block of North Main Street near Dollar General.
Shannon Kuhn, 49, was identified.
While the officer was speaking with Kuhn, she constantly kept bringing her hand to her face, specifically her nose. A white powdery substance was noticed in her left nostril. She said she snorted a Xanax and her doctor “knows she does it sometimes.” Kuhn stated she was heading to Waffle House and then to get a pack of cigarettes.
She denied knowledge of her driver’s license suspension but said she had been to court in the recent past.
Kuhn said nothing illegal was in her vehicle and gave consent to search.
During the vehicle search, a white rectangular pill in the driver’s door handle was found imprinted with GG249, an Alprazolam pill, otherwise known as a schedule IV controlled substance. On the driver’s seat, a knotted baggie was found that contained a crystalline substance consistent with methamphetamine.
Kuhn was placed under arrest for possession of methamphetamine and a schedule IV substance.
Nothing else illegal was located in the vehicle.
She was transported to the Logan County Jail.
