On Saturday, Bellefontaine Police responded to a call about a car going the wrong way on US 33.
The vehicle was traveling west in the eastbound lanes past State Route 540.
When officers saw the car traveling in the wrong direction, they initiated a traffic stop.
The driver of the vehicle, later identified as Suzanne Campbell, 79, of Bellefontaine, passed the police car, continuing the wrong way.
Officers boxed the car in to stop it from hitting other vehicles head-on.
As they approached the vehicle, Campbell seemed confused and said she got off on the wrong exit and went back onto the highway, traveling the wrong way.
Medics from the Bellefontaine Fire Department arrived on the scene and transported her to Mary Rutan Hospital.
Officers later went to the hospital to inform her of her charges of traveling the wrong way on one-way highway and reckless operation.
