The Benjamin Logan Board of Education held its regular meeting on Monday.
During the meeting, the board adopted the district goals for the 2025–2026 school year.
The first goal is to achieve a 4.5 or better overall rating on the Ohio School Report Card.
The second goal is to end fiscal year 2026 with revenues exceeding expenditures.
The third goal is to strengthen communication with the community through the “Let’s Talk School” meetings.
Updates included an increase in Raider Care rates, which will rise from $4.00 per hour to $5.00 per hour beginning this school year.
John Stanford presented the Ohio Hi-Point update, sharing that Benjamin Logan High School is now offering Hospitality Foundations, Baking and Pastry Arts, and Fundamentals of Food Production as new programs through the career center.
Jeffrey Peak has been hired as the instructor for these classes.
Several personnel changes were approved.
New hires were approved on one-year limited contracts, including teachers Stacy Hamlin, Chelsey Webb, and Ronald (Jamie) Gill.
Classified staff added to the district include Cindy Cokain as a food service worker, Ross Zahner as a bus driver, and both Kurt Guenther and Caitlyn Wickline as bus drivers.
Michelle Phipps was hired as transportation secretary, and Pete Keeran was employed as a bus driver and bus mechanic.
Several donations were accepted during the meeting.
Union Banking Company contributed $1,000 to support Middle School Student of the Month recognition.
The James Forsythe Milroy Foundation donated $3,750 to the Barnyard Buddies FFA program.
Honda contributed $3,500 to support robotics programs, while Citizens Federal donated $3,500 to sponsor the Stukent CTE program at the high school.
OHSS provided $1,250 for the Athletic Enrichment Fund. In addition, HTM donated 24 Strider bikes, helmets, storage racks, and teacher training, a gift valued at $9,000.
The next Benjamin Logan Board of Education meeting will take place on Monday, September 15, 2025, at 6:00 p.m.
