The Benjamin Logan Board of Education met Monday night for its September session, receiving updates from each building’s administrators and reviewing key school matters.

High School Principal Annette Alatorre highlighted the goals for her building, noting that high expectations remain for both students and staff.

Alatorre talks more about the high school’s goals:

At the elementary school, administrators shared that they are focusing on using data to provide “just right” instruction.

They also have a goal of 85% of students to participate in i-Ready reading or writing lessons each week.

They are also working toward developing well-rounded students.

The middle school will also use data to track student growth.

Additionally, they will recognize a “Raider of the Month” and a “Staff Member of the Month.”

Benjamin Logan Athletic Director Beau Harmon

The board also heard from Athletic Director Beau Harmon, who explained the district has an emergency action plan in place should a threat occur on school grounds.

This comes after a situation halted the Graham/Urbana football game in Champaign County on Friday night.

Construction updates were provided as well.

The sewer rehabilitation project is currently in the planning stages, with design approval expected shortly after the start of the new year.

Construction is scheduled to begin on March 9th and is anticipated to be completed by August 21st.

The board also recognized the September Seniors of the Month: Bre Allen and Carter Daniels.
