Benjamin Logan Elementary School raised $13,500 for the American Heart Association during this year’s Kids Heart Challenge.

The campaign, led by Physical Education teacher Mrs. Tiann Harner, taught students about heart health through fun activities.

Students learned how the heart works, practiced measuring their pulse, and explored interesting facts about hearts, including how some are so small they can only be seen under a microscope, while others are large enough to swim in.

They even got to hold real heart models and hear stories about how the American Heart Association has helped people in their community.

A total of 111 students signed up for the challenge, with 25 completing Finn’s Mission and 32 families learning Hands-Only CPR.

Eighteen students raised $250 or more, earning special recognition: Addie Pickering, Eden Caudill, Kinleigh McCreary, Joline Parsons, Isabelle Sadler, Aeron Bray, Jenabelle Downing, Kason Shirk, Emmett Fry, Karter Shirk, Vallie Ruble, Juniper Holycross, Ivan Holycross, James Blakey, Jase Phillips, Evelyn Roe, Keaton Hays, and Miles Brunson.

The top fundraiser was Eden Caudill, who raised $1,596.19.

The school is grateful for the community’s support and proud of the students for helping raise money to support the American Heart Association’s efforts in heart health education, research, and resources.
