Benjamin Logan High School is celebrating a major academic achievement by one of its students.

Senior Greyson Wagoner has been selected as a 2025 Joyce Ivy Foundation Summer Scholar—an honor awarded to just 81 high-achieving young women from across the Midwest.

Greyson attended Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, from June 22 to July 3, where she participated in a rigorous pre-college course in communications.

During her time at Brown, she explored how language is used in media, studied the risks of performative speech, and created a video essay that blended research and creativity.

“While studying communications at Brown, I learned to analyze linguistic patterns in media,” Greyson shared. “My work led me to explore the implications of nonchalance and the risks of performative speech patterns. I also enjoyed experiencing college life in a big city. Overall, the experience was incredibly enriching, and I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to go without the support I received from the Joyce Ivy Foundation.”

The Joyce Ivy Foundation Summer Scholars program provides scholarships for young women from the Midwest to attend summer programs at leading colleges and universities.

This year’s cohort represents eight states and 59 different high schools.

Among the 2025 Scholars, 59% identify as women of color, 30% are first-generation college-bound, and 83% hold a GPA of 4.0 or higher.

In addition to rigorous academics, the program offers students a chance to explore life on a college campus—without the pressure of formal grades.
