Benjamin Logan High School hosted its annual Local Science Day on Tuesday, featuring 18 student-led research projects.
By the end of the event, 10 projects earned the prestigious “Superior” rating, qualifying those students to compete at the Regional Science Day at Ohio Northern University on March 21.
“These students have demonstrated exceptional dedication to their research,” said Spencer Reames, Benjamin Logan High School science teacher.

- Slime Mold: The Natural Problem Solver: Lucy Johns and Ella Stoodt
- Nature’s Digesters: Comparing Enzymes in Fruit: Bella Hughes and Belen Palmer
- Assessing Levels of Bacteria on Commonly Used Public School Surfaces: Penelope Elliott
- The Color Preference of Honey Bees: Lottie Bodin
- Comparison of Lakes to Trout Streams: Georgia Daniels and Autumn Cline
- The Effect of Yeast Cell Concentrations on Bread Dough Rise: Gwendolyn Smith
- Antibacterial Properties of Central Ohio Woodland Flora: Junah Tingley
- Portable Non-Electric Record Player: Trina Smith
- The Biological and Chemical Assessment of the Mad River Over Eight Years: Winnie Bodin

- Junah Tingley: 1st Place Microbiology Award
- Winnie Bodin: 1st Place Environmental Award
With their Superior ratings and award-winning projects, these students are now preparing to represent Benjamin Logan High School at the regional level, showcasing their innovative research and dedication to science.
