A Rushsylvania woman was taken into custody Wednesday evening after a reckless driving incident on State Route 274.
According to the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called shortly before 6:30 PM by an off-duty deputy, who reported a black SUV traveling erratically on the roadway.
The vehicle, driven by 47-year-old Shawna Bensman, was seen crossing the centerline and leaving the pavement multiple times before stopping briefly at the gas station in Rushsylvania.
When deputies arrived, Bensman was driving east on State Route 274, continuing the same reported driving behaviors.
Deputies attempted to pull her over, ultimately identifying her vehicle as a 2013 black Honda Pilot.
When she finally pulled over, deputies noticed Bensman showed several signs of intoxication.
She initially refused to exit the vehicle but eventually complied after repeated commands.
Bensman was unable to complete field sobriety tests due to unsteady balance.
During her arrest, Bensman resisted but was ultimately safely handcuffed.
She was transported to the Logan County Jail, where she refused a urine test.
Bensman was issued a citation for driving under the influence and is scheduled for a court appearance next week.
She was then released to a sober driver.
