BHS Quiz Bowl Team Shines at Nationals

The Bellefontaine High School Quiz Bowl team competed at the NAQT Small School National Championships in Chicago on Saturday and Sunday.

The Chiefs started off strong Saturday morning going 4-1 with victories over West Union (Mississippi), Clever B (Missouri), Vinita (Oklahoma), and Canton (Missouri).

The team needed two victories Saturday afternoon to qualify for the Sunday playoff round.

The Chiefs went 3-2 in the afternoon, sealing a playoff spot with a come-from-behind victory over Danville (Kentucky).

BHS also defeated Sharpsville (Pennsylvania) and Williamston (Michigan) on Saturday afternoon.

The Chiefs finished 0-2 in Sunday’s playoff round.

Overall, the team went 7-5 and finished 33rd out of 88 teams.

Oliver Moreland was the leading scorer for the team followed by Jeff Smith, Elliett Lang, Nolan Core, and Emma Crabtree.

The team is coached by Cliff Core.
