The Bellefontaine High School Quiz Bowl team opened its season Monday night, hosting Kenton and Ada.
In varsity play, the Bellefontaine A Team went 1-1. The Chiefs dropped a close first match to Ada, 240–225, despite a strong 40-point performance from Caitlin Haley. Claire Brown added 25, Oliver Grandstaff scored 10, and Alex Sandoval chipped in 5.
The team bounced back in the second match, defeating Kenton 255–165. Haley again led the way with 35 points, followed by Sandoval with 30 and Jake Moreland with 10.
In non-varsity action, the Chieftain Quizzers dominated, going a perfect 4-0 on the night.
Bellefontaine B opened with a 225–110 win over Kenton B, highlighted by 40 points from Ethan Reynolds and 30 from Jake Moreland. They followed up with a 245–185 victory over Ada B, led by 45 points from Grandstaff and 35 from Reynolds.
The B team capped the night with a commanding 425–95 win over Ada B, with Ava Patton contributing 10 points.
In the final non-varsity contest, Bellefontaine A also topped Kenton B to finish the evening on a high note.
