West Liberty-Salem High School has announced its December Seniors of the Month, Kaylee Blair and Brock Burgel.

Kaylee Blair is the daughter of Brandon and Jenni Blair.

School Activities and Awards: I am involved in a variety of things. Youth United Way, Soccer, Softball, and National Honor Society.

Awards I have received are: Softball 4 Year Varsity Starter, and Honorable Mention for OHC. For Soccer, I have received 2nd Team OHC and our Tiger Award.

If I were principal for a day: If I were Principal for a day, I would allow the students to have a day where they can have a full school day to play games out on the football field and hang out. Then have pizza and other snacks for lunch.

Favorite school memory: My favorite school memory has been this past homecoming, getting to be on the court and enjoying the week with all my friends.

People who have been an inspiration to me include: My parents and coaches

Because: They have been huge role models in my life and have pushed me to be the best version of myself that I am today.

Lately, I have been reading: I’m not much of a reader, but one book I’ve been reading lately is the Bible. Especially the chapter of Luke as we get closer and closer to Christmas.

My advice to parents: Always be there for your kids and show up for them. Jobs will always be there, but their childhood will soon become memories.

My biggest regret: My biggest regret is not being involved in more activities. Missing out on countless opportunities to be with my friends one last time before graduation comes.

Next year I will be: Attending Findlay University or Ohio University to Major in Social Work.

Brock Burgel is the son of Crystal and Shane Burgel.

School Activities and Awards: Band, Golf, Soccer, Musical, Drama, NHS, Link Crew

If I were principal for a day: I would change the lunch schedule to have good pizza (Domino’s) every day.

Favorite school memory: Playing card games with friends during homeroom every day.

People who have been an inspiration to me include: Mr. Waibel, my parents

Because: Mr. Waibel has always been there to teach me, not only band, but also in life. My parents have always been there to be my biggest supporters.

Lately, I have been reading: Lately, I have been reading The Odyssey, by Homer.

My advice to parents: Love your kids well and make fun memories with them.

My biggest regret: Not pushing myself in middle school so that I could be in physics and calculus now.

Next year I will be: Going to Mount Vernon Nazarene University to study to become a nurse.
