David Blue was recognized for his military service during a ceremony at the Logan County Commissioners’ office Tuesday morning. Blue, a 1964 graduate of Indian Lake High School, received the flag flown over the Logan County Courthouse in July. He was active in the United States Army from 1965 to 1967.
During his time in the service, Blue received the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. His responsibilities included being a dog handler while patrolling an ammunition depot.
Blue said that it’s nice to be remembered for his service, but the lessons he learned in the service have inspired him to help others:
Blue, a Kenton resident, was accompanied by his sister, Mary Ellen Rausch, and her husband, Nathan.
