The Logan County Board of Developmental Disabilities (LCBDD) held its regular board meeting recently at the agency’s Bellefontaine office.

Ahead of the meeting, Scott DeLong of Champaign Residential Services, Inc. (CRSI) spoke with board members about the nonprofit’s work.

Founded in 1976, CRSI provides services such as in-home personal care, remote monitoring, transportation, accessibility modifications, respite, and advocacy for people with developmental disabilities.

The agency serves 600 people across 23 counties, including 32 individuals in Logan County, where 49 staff are employed.

Superintendent Krista Oldiges presented the financial report, highlighting a transfer of funds into the Capital Fund to cover the Discovery Center kitchen renovation project.

The renovation, which began September 9 and is expected to finish by year’s end, will allow all LCBDD staff to be housed in one building, generating cost savings.

The Logan County Health Department also completed an inspection of the Discovery Center, reporting no findings.

Board members also learned about the recent installation of a Mobi-Mat at Old Field Beach.

The project, completed in partnership with United Way of Logan County and Indian Lake State Park, improves accessibility by allowing wheelchair users and others with mobility challenges to reach beach and trail areas.

SSA Director Jason Moyer reported on talks with Equal Access Transportation of Union County to address local transportation needs for individuals with developmental disabilities.

He also met with Roots & Rise, a resource center offering mental health counseling, education, behavior support, and other services for families.

HR Director Staci Nichols announced that Brandi Hamilton has been hired as a Service and Support Administrator.

The board also promoted the Annual LCBDD Foundation Chicken BBQ, scheduled for Friday, October 10, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 1851 State Route 47 West in Bellefontaine.

Meals are $13 each and include half a chicken, baked potato, applesauce, and a roll.

Proceeds benefit individuals with developmental disabilities in Logan County.

Early Intervention staff recently participated in the WIC Baby Shower and National Night Out, while Preschool Director Lisa Sulich reported 118 students are currently enrolled for the 2025–26 school year.

During the meeting, board members approved a contract with Energy Professionals, LLC, along with several policy updates.

They also voted to cancel the December meeting.

LCBDD board meetings are generally held on the first Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at 1973 State Route 47 West, Bellefontaine.

The next meeting is set for October 2.
