A Bellefontaine man was arrested Monday night after police say he was driving erratically.
According to a police report, officers were called just after 9:30 PM to the area of South Main Street and Lake Avenue for a report of a white Honda SUV being driven all over the road.
Officers spotted the SUV on East Columbus Avenue and made a traffic stop.
The driver was identified as 41-year-old James Dick.
Law enforcement reported smelling alcoholic beverages coming from Dick and that he showed several signs of intoxication.
Dick told officers he had just finished bowling and admitted he had drunk several beers while playing the game.
He then failed field sobriety tests, was arrested for operating a vehicle under the influence, and taken to the Bellefontaine Police Department.
There, Dick refused to complete additional sobriety tests and refused to take a breath test.
Police also found Dick had prior OVI convictions in 2008, 2014, and 2019, as well as a prior physical control conviction in 2009.
His driver’s license was taken and sent to the Bureau of Motor Vehicles, resulting in a suspension.
Dick was then taken to the Logan County Jail, where he was lodged on an OVI charge.
