According to court records from the Bellefontaine Municipal Court, 29-year-old Zachary Brandyberry of Bellefontaine has been sentenced to jail and probation following a conviction for a sexually oriented offense involving a 15-year-old girl.
The incident occurred on June 20, 2025, when Brandyberry, a family friend, allegedly kissed the victim and made inappropriate physical contact, in addition to soliciting revealing photos from her.
Brandyberry went to trial on October 27th but was not arrested until Wednesday (November 5th) morning.
The court imposed a 60-day jail sentence, with 50 days suspended, and Brandyberry received one day of credit for time served.
The suspended portion of the sentence is contingent upon him remaining law-abiding and successfully completing a two-year probation term.
Terms of probation include:
- No violations of any laws or ordinances
- Attendance at all court hearings and probation appointments
- Submission to random drug and alcohol screenings
- No possession or use of illegal drugs or alcohol
- Completion of 40 hours of community service within 180 days
- Compliance with all additional probation conditions set by the probation department
Brandyberry was also ordered to pay a $350 fine and $140 in court costs (including a probation fee), with possible referral to collections if payments are not made as scheduled.
As part of the sentence, Brandyberry has been classified as a Tier I sex offender.
He must register his residential address annually for 15 years and is prohibited from having unsupervised contact with non-relative minor children without prior approval from his supervising officer.
Authorities say the case originated after the Logan County Sheriff’s Office investigated reports of inappropriate text messages and physical contact between Brandyberry and the minor.
A forensic review of Brandyberry’s phone and monitored communications confirmed the inappropriate behavior.
A civil protection order has also been issued for the victim and her mother.
The court emphasized that all terms must be strictly followed to avoid further penalties.
