The Findlay Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a serious injury crash that occurred today, January 20, at 3:42 a.m. on State Route 309, between Township Road 15 and Township Road 25 in Liberty Township, Hardin County.
The preliminary investigation revealed that an eastbound Chrysler Town and Country, operated by Monte Allen, 41, Lima, went left of center and struck a westbound ambulance.
The ambulance, operated by Robinaugh Emergency Medical Services, then went off the side of the road and overturned.
The occupants of both vehicles were extricated by first responders.
Allen sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported by air ambulance to Mercy Health – St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo.
The ambulance driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported by ground ambulance to Mercy Health – St. Rita’s Medical Center.
The medic and the patient in the back of the ambulance both sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported by ground ambulance to Lima Memorial Hospital.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office, Ada-Liberty Township Fire Department, Alger Community Fire Association, Upper Scioto Valley Ambulance District, BKP Ambulance District, Ada Police Department, Ohio Department of Transportation, and Minichs Towing & Recovery.
The incident remains under investigation at this time.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently on the scene of a two-vehicle crash at the Hardin/Allen County line involving a Robinaugh EMS vehicle from Bellefontaine.
The crash happened early Tuesday morning on State Route 309, between State Route 235 and County Road 15.
According to dispatch at the Lima Post, one person was airlifted to a major hospital.
Several other individuals were transported to area hospitals for treatment of sustained injuries.
The crash remains under investigation, and traffic in the area may be impacted as emergency crews continue working at the scene.
Robinaugh EMS released the following statement on social media, “Early this morning, one of our units transporting a patient to a Lima hospital was struck by another vehicle who went left of center, striking our unit head-on and causing it to roll. Both crew members sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to Lima hospital,s as well as the patient they were transporting. The other driver was flown from the scene. Please keep our teams as well as the patient in your thoughts and prayers.”
