Brush fire contained; Departments issue warning

Fire crews responded Saturday afternoon to a brush fire in the 3900 block of County Road 31 North that threatened nearby structures and crops.

At approximately 2:55 p.m., units from the Huntsville Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched after reports of an uncontrolled burn.

Heavy smoke was reported en route, prompting Indian Joint Fire District to be called in for additional support.

Upon arrival, crews found a working brush fire moving toward a nearby structure and bean field.

Firefighters immediately began containment and extinguishment efforts.

The fire was successfully contained, with no damage to neighboring fields or structures.

Fire officials emphasized that the region is currently experiencing an extreme dry spell, leaving vegetation highly flammable.

Residents are urged to refrain from any burning, as even small sparks can quickly escalate into dangerous fires.

Agencies responding to the incident included: Huntsville Volunteer Fire Department, Indian Joint Fire District and the Logan County Sheriff’s Office.

Fire officials thanked all responding agencies for their quick and coordinated efforts.
