On Sunday, 33-year-old Hunter Burris, of Russells Point, was arrested during a traffic stop on State Route 117 near County Road 96.
Logan County Sheriff’s Deputies noticed Burris’ vehicle had no visible license plate and pulled it over.
They also saw the vehicle had dark-tinted windows and a hard-to-read temporary plate.
Burris appeared very nervous during the stop, which led deputies to search him for weapons.
They found something in his pocket that he first said was marijuana.
However, after further checking, deputies discovered a clear, crystal-like substance that was later identified as methamphetamine.
Burris was arrested, and a search of his vehicle found more drugs, including what appeared to be fentanyl.
He was released from prison in December 2024 and admitted to using fentanyl since his release.
During the arrest, deputies seized around 66 grams of methamphetamine, 1.4 grams of suspected fentanyl, and a Xanax pill that was not prescribed to Burris.
Burris was charged with felony drug possession and taken to the Logan County Jail.
He has a history of drug-related felonies and is currently on parole.
