Tuesday, Judge Kevin P. Braig of the Logan County Court of Common Pleas sentenced 34-year-old Hunter Burris, of Russells Point, to prison following his conviction on a felony drug charge.

On January 26th, Burris was arrested during a traffic stop on State Route 117 near County Road 96.

Logan County Sheriff’s deputies initially pulled him over because his vehicle had no visible license plate, dark-tinted windows, and a hard-to-read temporary tag.

Deputies reported that Burris appeared very nervous during the stop.

A pat-down search revealed a substance in his pocket that he first claimed was marijuana, but was later identified as methamphetamine.

A further search of his vehicle turned up additional drugs, including what appeared to be fentanyl.

In total, deputies seized about 66 grams of methamphetamine, 1.4 grams of suspected fentanyl, and a Xanax pill not prescribed to Burris.

He was charged with felony drug possession and booked into the Logan County Jail.

Court records show Burris had been released from prison in December 2024 after serving a sentence for aggravated possession of drugs.

He admitted to deputies he had been using fentanyl since his release.

Burris pled guilty to aggravated possession of drugs, a second-degree felony.

Judge Braig sentenced him to a mandatory prison term of four to six years.
