Bellefontaine High School recently named its May Seniors of the Month, Laila Butler and Conor Evans.

Laila Butler is the daughter of Diallo and Judy Butler of  West Liberty.

School activities and awards: Varsity Softball, Varsity Basketball, Chieftain Leaders, National Honor Society, and Honor Roll.

If I were principal for a day: I would allow students to have their phones again.

Favorite school memory: Winning cutest couple with my girlfriend.

People who have been an inspiration to me: Taylor Pack, Ms. Yvette, and the many people that helped raise me.

Lately I’ve been reading: Lots of textbooks.

My advice to parents: Love your kids for who they are and support them in every step of the way.

My biggest regret: Not transferring schools sooner.

Next year: I will be studying biology and playing softball at Alcorn State University.

Conor Evans is the son of Daniel and Danielle Evans of West Mansfield.

School activities and awards: Football, Wrestling, Most Improved Award, Chieftain Pride Award, and Sportsmanship Award.

If I were principal for a day: I would put a massive slip and slide through the hallways.

Favorite school memory: Wrestling in the Battle of 68 dual against Urbana at home my junior year and winning my match by a lateral drop.

People who have been an inspiration to me: My family and my coaches.

Lately I’ve been reading: Fallen Angels.

My advice to parents: Raise your kid to be the kind of person you want them to be and not how the world expects you to raise them. Also, value their dreams and goals because it’s not your life but theirs to decide what they want to do.

My biggest regret: Looking at the bad in school like worrying about tests, projects, and homework and sometimes forgetting to value the great stuff like friendships, sports, and the memories you have in high school.

Next year: I will be working at Walmart.

Congratulations!
