Calvary Christian Schools has announced their Seniors of the Month for March.
Congratulations to Abigail Rogers, Josh Carnes, and Nicolas James.
Abigail Rogers is the daughter of Melissa Rogers.
She is a member of the National Honors Society and her favorite memory from school is Mr. Davis’ class. She is passionate about helping others and credits her family and teachers for being inspirations for her. A Bible verse that has had a strong impact on her is Micah 7:7. The most impactful high school activity has been Bonding Days. She plans to go to college and study Psychology and says her time at Calvary has helped her see how everything was created with a purpose. Her advice for students entering high school is it’s not as scary as it seems, just do your best and lean on God.
Josh Carnes is the son of Amber Carnes.
He has been active in soccer since elementary school, and is the ASB Treasurer, and a member of the Key Club for 2 years. He remembers most hanging out on the grassy hill at the old school building with friends when they had nothing to do in art class. He is passionate about Math, science and sports. People who have been an inspiration to Josh have been Josh Harmison, Caleb King, Daniel Wilt, Matt Bender, and Aaron Adelsberger. The Bible verse that has had a strong impact on him is Joshua 1:9 ESV. The most impactful student activity for Josh is Varsity Soccer and he plans to attend college with an undecided major in the future. For Josh, Mrs. Labelle’s Bible class was the biggest turning point in his spiritual life because she taught it in such a meaningful way.
His advice for students entering high school is to not stress the homework, because the load gets lighter as you move up.
Nicolas James is the son of Patrick and Jenna James.
He is actively involved in Soccer, cross country, golf, drama, bonding day leader, and is a field day leader. One memory from Calvary that Nicolas will look back on is the worship nights and Friday chapel. These moments in worship and listening to speakers have helped him grow so much in his faith throughout high school. He enjoys spending time on photography and reading and has been inspired by his dad and grandpa, who have both set excellent examples in business, productivity, mindset, and personal achievement. The Bible Verse that has had a strong impact on Nicolas is Psalm 37:24 – Though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with His hand. The most impactful high school activity for Nicolas is Worship before chapel. He plans to attend Columbus State online for financial accounting. He says the people, the teachers, and the atmosphere of Calvary taught him to be an active listener, be eager to learn, and view things through a biblical lens. Specifically, Mrs. LaBelle’s apologetics Bible class has taught him how to defend his faith and always grow to become a better disciple of Christ.
Congratulations!
