Sunday afternoon, a traffic stop at the intersection of Oakwood and Ash Avenue led to the recovery of a stolen camper and the arrest of Nathaniel “Nate” Clem, 45, of Lakeview.

The traffic stop involved a vehicle preparing to unload a camper trailer, which was reported as stolen.

The camper was found to have a VIN that, while not initially flagged as stolen, was registered to Brian Weiss.

Weiss confirmed that the camper had been stored at Lakeside Storage and was missing.

Photographs of the camper and its VIN provided by Weiss matched the camper in question.

Clem arrived at the scene in his black Chevrolet Silverado truck while the camper was being towed.

He claimed to have purchased the camper from a person via Facebook Marketplace but could not provide detailed information about the person or the transaction.

Following guidance from Prosecutor Stewart, Clem was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property.

The camper was returned to Weiss and removed from the stolen vehicle database.
