According to the Bellefontaine Police Department, a domestic dispute early Sunday morning led to the arrest of 36-year-old Jarvis Magee of Columbus.
Officers responded to a home on Township Road 179 after receiving a report of a violent argument between Magee and the victim.
When they arrived, they found the victim, upset and learned that Magee had left the scene in a black Audi.
Logan County Sheriff’s Deputies found Magee a short time later and detained him.
Magee explained that he had gone to the victim’s home to see his children, and when he couldn’t reach the victim by phone, he entered the house, but the victim was not there.
When he returned later, the two got into an argument, which quickly turned physical.
Magee claimed the victim attacked him first, showing officers a scratch on his face and a bleeding lip.
The victim provided evidence of the attack, including video footage from a Ring camera.
The video showed Magee entering the home, choking the victim, and dragging her down the stairs before throwing her onto the couch.
Magee was arrested and lodged in the Logan County Jail on charges of burglary and domestic violence.
He has a history of prior convictions, including domestic violence charges and a firearms-related offense.
The investigation is ongoing.
