A Celina man escaped injury after a single-vehicle crash Wednesday evening in Bellefontaine.

According to the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened just after 8:00 p.m. along U.S. 33 near U.S. 68.

Deputies say a red 2011 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by 72-year-old Keith Lay, was traveling westbound when it veered off the left side of the roadway and into the median.

The report lists Lay’s speed at 76 miles per hour in a posted 70 miles per hour zone.

Lay then re-entered the roadway but continued across, running off the right side.

The vehicle hit a fence and a tree before coming to rest in a field.

Lay was not injured in the crash.

He was cited for failure to control.

Traffic in the area was slowed for a short time while crews responded, and the pickup was towed from the scene.
