CERT Classes in Bellefontaine Prepare for Future Disasters; Day 1

SHARE NOW

Before, during, and after disasters, CERT volunteer teams perform basic response activities, including checking in on neighbors, distributing information to the public, supporting emergency operations centers, and helping to manage traffic and crowds.

Local CERT programs train and organize teams of volunteers to assist their families, neighbors, co-workers, and other community members.

Last night, local concerned citizens began training for CERT certification.

On day 1 of local training, residents became familiarized with what CERT is and why it’s important in our area.

Lance Peterson is the Logan County CERT Manager and has taught CERT Training for 14 years.

Over time, he’s used his training in emergency response more often than he would like.

In this training, participants learned fire safety, including hands-on experience with fire extinguishers.

They also learned disaster medical operations and emergency first aid.

Later this week, they will focus on disaster preparedness.
