A 37-year-old Broadway man was cited for operating a vehicle under the influence of drugs after a chain-reaction crash Wednesday night in Bellefontaine.

According to the crash report, the collision happened around 8:30 p.m. in the 600 block of Heritage Court.

A 2012 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Michael Robinson rear-ended a parked 2025 Nissan Sentra, pushing it into a parked 2013 Volkswagen Passat.

Robinson was taken to Mary Rutan Hospital by Bellefontaine EMS for possible injuries.

Officers suspected Robinson was impaired when they arrived at the scene.

Robinson told officers he had hit his head on the steering wheel and was experiencing a headache and dizziness.

He showed several signs of intoxication and told police he had taken a prescribed dose of Oxycodone about an hour earlier.

He also admitted smoking marijuana earlier that morning.

Officers found a small bag of marijuana in his hoodie pocket.

Police became concerned about Robinson’s condition and requested emergency medical assistance.

A sergeant reported concerns that Robinson might be experiencing an overdose.

At Mary Rutan Hospital, Robinson refused a blood test requested by police.

Robinson was cited for operating a vehicle under the influence of drugs or alcohol, driving under a non-compliance suspension, and failure to control.

He is scheduled to appear in Bellefontaine Municipal Court on Monday at 9 a.m.
