Champaign County celebrates Easter with lineup of family festivities

Easter fun is already underway across Champaign County, with a variety of FREE events planned for families to enjoy over the next two weekends. From classic egg hunts to unique pool dives and community gatherings, there’s something for everyone to celebrate the season.

Saturday, March 28
The festivities begin with a chance to meet the Easter Bunny at Ethel’s Flowers from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Families can stop in, snap photos, and enjoy a relaxed, festive atmosphere while browsing the shop.

Also on Saturday morning, First Central National Bank Urbana Branch hosts its Easter Kids Day from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The event features cookie decorating, hands-on kids activities, and a visit with the Easter Bunny. An egg hunt is also part of the fun, giving children a chance to gather treats and celebrate the holiday.

Sunday, March 29
Families can take part in a one-of-a-kind Easter celebration at the Champaign Family YMCA during the Easter Egg Dive and Jam Sessions from 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Kids will participate in age-specific pool egg hunts, combined with short “jam sessions” featuring music and activities. The schedule is divided into groups for ages 1–12, ensuring a safe and fun experience for all. The event also includes photos with the Easter Bunny, goodie bags, and concludes with a family open swim from 4 to 5 p.m.

Friday, April 3
The following weekend kicks off with a community breakfast at Vancrest of Urbana from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Guests can enjoy a free pancake breakfast while visiting with the Easter Bunny and capturing photos. The event offers a relaxed, welcoming setting for families and community members alike.

Saturday, April 4
A busy Saturday brings multiple opportunities for Easter fun. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Champaign County Library hosts the North Lewisburg Branch Annual Egg Hunt at 1060 Scioto Street in Urbana. Organized by the Friends of the North Lewisburg Branch Library, the event is geared toward school-age children and includes a traditional egg hunt along with family-friendly activities.

Later that day, Hearth & Home Urbana will hold its Easter egg hunt from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. In addition to the hunt, families can enjoy crafts, snacks, and drinks, as well as take pictures with the Easter Bunny. A special highlight of the event is the chance to find one of two golden eggs, each offering a prize for lucky participants.

With a mix of traditional favorites and creative activities, Champaign County’s Easter lineup provides plenty of opportunities for families to get out, celebrate, and make lasting memories together.
