Champaign County roadwork to bring closures and delays

A series of road construction projects are expected to impact travel across Champaign County next week, according to the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT).

Motorists are advised to plan ahead, expect delays, and use posted detours.

New Closures Starting June 23:

  • State Route 296 between Upper Valley Pike and U.S. 68 will close beginning Monday, June 23, through Thursday, July 10. Bridge work is scheduled.
    Detour: U.S. 68 to Miami Street to Oakland Street.
  • State Route 296 between Bates Road and Upper Valley Pike will also close during the same timeframe, June 23 through July 10, for additional bridge work.
    Detour: U.S. 68 to Miami Street to Oakland Street.

Ongoing Construction:

  • State Route 245 remains closed between Slate Stone Road and Kennard Kingscreek Road through Tuesday, June 11, for bridge work.
    Detour: State Route 507 to U.S. 68 to State Route 296.
  • State Route 29 in Mechanicsburg is restricted to one lane between Railroad Street and Alison Road through July 2025. A flagging operation will maintain traffic while resurfacing is underway.
  • State Route 4 is down to a single lane between Maple Grove Road and East Sandusky Street, also through July 2025, for resurfacing work.
  • State Route 559 is under similar single-lane restrictions from State Route 29 to Pleasantview Estate, with flaggers directing traffic during resurfacing, continuing through the end of July.
  • State Route 507 between U.S. 68 and State Route 245 will experience intermittent single-lane closures from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. through September for repaving. Traffic will be controlled by flaggers.

Upcoming Closures:

  • State Route 296 between Upper Valley Pike and U.S. 68 is scheduled to close again August 1 through August 21 for additional bridge work.
    Detour: U.S. 68 to Miami Street to Oakland Street.
