The Champaign County Sheriff’s Chaplain Ministry will host its first annual car show Saturday, October 10, at the Champaign County Fairgrounds in Urbana.

The family-friendly community outreach event will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., rain or shine, at 384 Park Avenue.

Vehicle registration closes at noon, and the entry fee is $15.

The show will feature trophies, dash plaques, a 50/50 drawing, a potluck, and food trucks.

Members of the Christian Hot Rod Association, a national club affiliated with Goodguys, will also be on hand.

Organizers say the event is an extension of the chaplains’ mission to serve and support the community, especially during difficult times.

The ministry works alongside sheriff’s deputies and responds to situations involving mental health crises, deaths, and Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD).

The chaplains aim to offer a ministry of presence, providing confidential support, prayer, resources, and encouragement to people who are hurting.

Their goal is to build relationships throughout the community and remind people they are not alone when facing some of the hardest days of their lives.

The ministry also provides support to deputies when needed, with chaplains and law enforcement working together toward a shared mission of helping others.

Proceeds from the car show will help cover training and ministry expenses, allowing the chaplains to remain available to those who need assistance.

Organizers invite car enthusiasts and community members to attend, enjoy the activities, and support the ministry’s ongoing work.
