The Champaign Community Foundation has awarded a $1,000 grant to the Champaign Family YMCA to support its Summer Enrichment & Access Support program.
The funding will help reduce financial and transportation barriers for children and families participating in YMCA summer camps and enrichment activities. Grant funds will be used to purchase program supplies and help cover transportation-related expenses, including transportation for YMCA-organized field trips and limited transportation assistance for families.
YMCA CEO Greg Hower said transportation remains one of the most common obstacles preventing families from accessing summer enrichment opportunities.
“Transportation continues to be one of the most common barriers preventing families from accessing summer enrichment opportunities. By addressing both program costs and access challenges, this project ensures that more children can safely participate in educational, physical, and social enrichment activities throughout the summer months.”
— Greg Hower, Champaign Family YMCA CEO
The grant is expected to help expand access to educational, physical, and social enrichment opportunities for local children throughout the summer season.
