According to the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, a man was arrested early Saturday after leading deputies on a high-speed pursuit that began on U.S. Route 33.

Just before 1 a.m., a deputy monitoring traffic with radar near State Route 540 clocked a blue Dodge Charger traveling westbound at 100 miles per hour.

The deputy attempted to catch up with the vehicle as it exited onto State Route 540, failing to stop at a red light.

The pursuit continued through Sloan Boulevard and onto County Road 55 before the suspect’s vehicle crashed into a fence at the intersection of Township Road 55 and Township Road 184.

The driver then reversed back onto the roadway before finally stopping as deputies closed in.

The suspect, identified as Erick Garrison, 36, of Bellefontaine,  was ordered out of the vehicle at gunpoint and taken into custody without further incident.

Bellefontaine Police assisted on the scene.

Garrison told deputies he fled because he did not want a speeding ticket and was on his way to get a honey bun for his wife.

He was transported to the Logan County Jail, charged with failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer, and cited for speed and failure to control.
