The Logan County Engineer’s Office will be performing chip seal maintenance on two roads this week and next.

Work is scheduled from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on both days, weather permitting, with no overnight closures planned.

On Thursday, crews will chip seal County Road 66 between the Quincy city limits and the Champaign County line.

On Monday, work will shift to County Road 65 from State Route 508 to the DeGraff corporation limits.

Roads will be closed to through traffic during the work, but local and emergency vehicles will be allowed through with the help of flaggers.

Drivers should expect delays and are encouraged to use alternate routes.

Motorists are reminded to slow down and drive with caution in work zones.

Loose gravel will be present for several days after the application, and the treated sections will remain unmarked no-passing zones until fall.

For safety and proper road surface curing, drivers are asked to keep speeds below 20 mph on the day of application and under 30 mph for the following week.
