Friday evening, Logan County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a crash on Alpine Parkway in Zanesfield.

A white Ford Fusion had left the roadway and struck a trailer and two parked vehicles—a black Ford truck and a white BMW.

The truck was pushed into the side of the trailer, causing damage to the residence.

The driver of the Fusion, identified as Robert Tolley, 60, of West Liberty, explained that he had sneezed and started choking, leading to the crash.

Tolley also admitted he had only a learner’s permit and not a valid Ohio driver’s license.

Deputies noticed that he showed signs of impairment.

Witnesses confirmed they had heard the crash and found Tolley outside the vehicle afterward.

When asked, Tolley said he had consumed alcohol an hour before the crash.

He refused to submit to field sobriety tests, admitting he would fail them but agreed to provide a breath sample.

He later blew a breath sample of  0.115, just over the legal limit.

Tolley was placed under arrest for Operating a Vehicle Impaired (OVI) and other violations, including failure to control the vehicle and driving without a valid license.

He was transported to the Logan County Jail where he was later released to a sober driver and given a mandatory court date.
