An East Liberty man was arrested Sunday evening after a report of reckless driving.

According to a report from the Bellefontaine Police Department, officers were called just after 8:00 PM to the area of Gunntown Road and South Main Street after a concerned witness followed a dark blue Ford F-150 into the city from County Road 29.

The witness reported that a truck was swerving across the roadway, crossing over the center line, and suddenly braking.

They recorded the truck’s erratic driving and later shared the footage with officers.

Police found a matching vehicle parked at a gas pump at a station on South Main Street.

A male, later identified as 44-year-old Santos Roblero, was seen exiting the truck and entering the store.

As officers spoke with Roblero, they noticed several signs of impairment.

Though he initially denied having consumed alcohol, Roblero later admitted to drinking three to four beers around noon that day.

Officers attempted to conduct field sobriety tests, but due to a language barrier and Roblero’s lack of cooperation or understanding of instructions, the tests were unsuccessful.

Roblero was placed under arrest for operating a vehicle under the influence.

During a search of the vehicle, police found two open alcoholic beverages.

At the Bellefontaine Police Department, Roblero submitted to a breathalyzer test where his blood alcohol content registered 0.24, more than three times the legal limit.

Roblero was issued citations for:

  • Operating a vehicle under the influence
  • OVI with breath alcohol over .17
  • Weaving
  • Open container
  • Lanes of travel violation

He was given a mandatory court date and was released to a sober driver.
