The Bellefontaine City Council met for the first time in 2024 on Tuesday evening, with new Mayor, Dave Crissman at the helm.

Just before the start of the meeting, updated council photos were taken.

Council members were then sworn in by Judge Jacob Estes, including two new faces, Nick Davis and Mackenzie Fitzpatrick.

Bonnie Campbell was reappointed as Clerk of Council for a two-year term.

Mayor Dave Crissman and the Service Safety Director, Wes Dodds, told the council that they would like to be more informative when it comes to the happenings within the city, including making sure they receive a report monthly from the department heads about what is happening within their department.

Mayor Crissman talks about transparency and things he would like to do within the city:

Head of Parks, Kris Myers talked to the council about the ball tournaments happening this spring and summer. He had moved things online for teams to sign up and over 50 items per tournament have already signed up. Myers went on to talk about the importance of these tournaments to the area businesses. When so many people come for the tournaments, it makes businesses within the area busier. Myers gave the example of a local restaurant having to simplify their menu and open up additional seating to keep up with the demand.
