The City of Urbana’s Office of Administration is announcing the establishment of an oversight committee that will be committed to exploring information associated with a potential data center development in our community
The administration recognizes and appreciates the concerns that have been voiced by members of our community over the last several weeks. There are several factors that need to be further explored and confirmed, so that the quality of life of our residents can be ensured, for the wonderful community of Urbana.
The committee being established will include participation by residents, as well as representatives from the Champaign County Commissioners’ Office, Urbana City Schools, Urbana City staff, Urbana City Council, and Cedar Bog Nature Preserve.
This committee’s formation will promote and exemplify the high standard of collaboration, cooperation, and respect, to ensure that the community is factually informed about the impact that any future data center development would have on the City of Urbana, and our neighbors.
We will continue to work hard to ensure that all concerns are investigated thoroughly.
