City offices in Bellefontaine and Urbana are closed due to the ongoing winter storm, with dangerously cold temperatures continuing across the region. Officials state that public services will not be operational during the closure, and residents should be prepared for potential delays and disruptions.

In Bellefontaine, trash and recycling collection will be delayed this week as crews wait for conditions to improve. Weather conditions continue to create hazardous road conditions and limit the ability of city crews to safely operate.

Wes Dodds, Service Safety Director for the City of Bellefontaine, emphasized that critical operations will continue despite the closures.

“Essential services such as police, fire, and streets will still be out working to keep us safe and the roads clear,” Dodds said.

The City of Urbana also confirmed its offices are closed, citing concerns for employee and public safety.

“This decision was made in the interest of public safety and the well-being of City employees. Residents are encouraged to avoid unnecessary travel and use caution.”

Officials in both cities are urging residents to stay home whenever possible and remain vigilant as freezing temperatures and winter weather continue to affect the area.
