Two faculty members from Clark State College’s diagnostic medical sonography program have received regional recognition for their commitment to education and student mentorship.
Megan Platfoot, program coordinator, and Lindsee Adams, clinical coordinator, were recently honored by Greater Dayton Imaging Professionals for their contributions to the field. Platfoot received the Sonographer Impact Mentor and Education Award, while Adams earned an Education Award, with both recognitions highlighting professionals who share their expertise and support the development of future sonographers.
“This recognition means a great deal to me, not just as a professional, but as someone who truly believes in the impact mentorship and education can have on people,” Platfoot said. Nominated by her students, she added that helping others grow has been one of the most rewarding parts of her career. “Students remind me that learning is a shared journey.”
Platfoot developed Clark State’s diagnostic medical sonography program, which prepares students to assist physicians in medical diagnosis and treatment through ultrasound imaging. Her previous honors include a 2024 education award, selection to the Dayton Business Journal’s 2024 Forty Under 40 list, the 2023 Excellence in Sonography Distinguished Educator Award from BB Imaging, and program accreditation through the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs.
Adams said she was especially honored to receive her award because her nomination also came from students.
“It means a great deal to know that the work I put into supporting students is seen and felt,” Adams said. “My priority has always been to create an environment where students feel supported, heard, and understood throughout their time in the program.”
Clark State’s diagnostic medical sonography program offers hands-on training, clinical experience, and instruction using industry-standard equipment. Graduates are prepared for careers in hospitals, clinics, and medical offices and are eligible to pursue national credentialing exams.
