Benjamin Logan Middle School held its annual spelling bee Friday morning.
Thirty-nine students in grades 5-8 competed in the spelling bee held in the STREAM Center.
After several challenging rounds, eighth-grader Holly Coaty correctly spelled “shocked” to become the champion.
Seventh-grader Autumn Cline was runner-up.
Eighth-grader Caitlyn Kirkpatrick came in third.
Both Coaty and Cline have qualified for the Logan County Spelling Bee at the Holland Theatre on January 17 at 6 pm.
Coaty will also take an online spelling and vocabulary test in January to advance toward the Scripps National Spelling Bee.
Coaty is the daughter of Jeff & Christy Coaty.
Cline is the daughter of Clark & Jaclyn Cline.
