After 32 years with Bellefontaine City Schools, Bellefontaine Intermediate Principal Pat Martz is retiring.

Her final day will be December 31, bringing an end to a long and impactful career in education.

Dave Coburn will step in as Interim Principal at Bellefontaine Intermediate for the rest of the school year, while the district works to fill the position permanently.

Coburn brings 35 years of experience as a science teacher and school administrator.

He spent much of his career at Indian Lake High School and most recently served as a principal there before retiring in June.

Coburn said he is excited to join Chieftain Nation and looks forward to working with intermediate students at BIS.

Joking about the transition, Coburn said he may need to ask Santa for some new black-and-red gear—without the “IL” logo—as he settles into his new role.
