The Logan County Commissioners honored Bob Coffman, Jr. in a ceremony held in the commissioner’s meeting room Tuesday afternoon. He was presented with the flag that flew over the Logan County courthouse during the month of February of this year.

Coffman, of Huntsville, served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam Conflict and retired as a staff sergeant in 1974. He received several commendations during his service including the Navy Occupation Medal and a Combat Action Ribbon.

Amy Ricketts, who represented the Logan County Veteran’s Service Commission, said Coffman was the unanimous choice to receive the first award because he has been associated with the commission for several years and is well-known by the staff.

The recognition program was the idea of commissioner Mike Yoder. Yoder said that the commissioners received a list of veterans from the Logan County Veteran’s Services Commission, and the vets will be honored in the coming months.

The certificate of authenticity presented with the flag read: “On behalf of the Commissioners of Logan County, Ohio, and the citizens of said county, please accept this flag which was flown above the Logan County Courthouse in February of 2023 as a symbol of our appreciation for your honorable and faithful service to the United States of America and Logan County Ohio.”
