Columbus man arrested for possession after having fentanyl

Officers from the Washington Township Police Department were on patrol on U.S. Route 33 near Township Road 94 Thursday evening around 6:45.

A traffic stop was conducted on John Love, 59 of Columbus, for going left of center and nearly striking the patrol car head-on.

Upon making contact with Love, signs of impairment were observed from him.

Love consented to a search of his vehicle, and fentanyl was located. Love stated he purchased the drugs earlier in the day in Columbus but was unsure what kind of drugs they were.

Love was taken into custody and charged with possession of drugs.

He was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
