According to the Bellefontaine Police Department, an officer spotted a green Hyundai Santa Fe speeding on East Lake Avenue around 7:08 a.m. Tuesday.
The officer stopped the vehicle near Superior Street and asked the driver for identification.
The man provided an Ohio identification card under the name Flores Romero Valeriano.
Because the driver spoke Spanish, a dispatcher helped translate during the traffic stop.
The driver told police he did not have a valid driver’s license in Ohio or any other state.
Police determined the identification card was fictitious.
The driver was cited for speeding and driving without a valid license.
He was given a mandatory court date of October 19 at 9 a.m. in Bellefontaine Municipal Court.
The vehicle was towed, and the identification card was taken as evidence.
