Thursday, the Logan County Commissioners presented the flag that flew above the Logan County Courthouse in June of 2024 to Mr. John William “Bill” Comer.
Mr. Comer entered the United States Army in 1969 and was stationed for AIT at Ft. Leonardwood, Missouri.
He was active in the overseas station of Vietnam and was honorably discharged in 1971.

Mr. Comer’s military honors include the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device, two Overseas Bars, a Good Conduct Medal, an Army Commendation, and he was an expert in handling the M14 and M16 rifles.
Growing up outside of Mechanicsburg, in Champaign County, Mr. Comer is a Mechanicsburg High School graduate of 1968.
He and his wife, Mary, reside at Indian Lake and were joined at the ceremony by Mike Leugers and Hope Martin.
