In a ceremony on Tuesday morning, the Logan County Commissioners recognized Army veteran Ray Stamm by presenting him with the American flag that flew above the Logan County Courthouse throughout the month of March.

Stamm, a Bellefontaine native and 1966 graduate of Bellefontaine High School, served in the United States Army from 1966 to 1968.

He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Sharpshooter M-14 Rifle Medal, reflecting his dedication and marksmanship.

The brief presentation took place at the commissioners’ office, where family, friends, and elected officials gathered to show their appreciation.

The flag was gifted as a symbol of gratitude for Stamm’s service and lifelong commitment to our country.

Stamm has been married to his wife, Linda, for over 50 years.

Together, they raised two children: Stacie Cooper and Tony Stamm.

The ceremony is part of an ongoing tradition by the commissioners to honor local veterans for their contributions to both the nation and the community.

Stamm talks about his time in the military and the advice he has for others:
