The Behind the Badge program continued its impactful journey with the sixth week of the Sheriffs Citizens Academy, held last night at the Bellefontaine Municipal Court.

Participants were given a unique opportunity to step into the courtroom and experience the legal process firsthand during a mock hearing presided over by Judge Jacob Estes and his staff.

The interactive session allowed citizens to engage in real courtroom proceedings, simulating scenarios where they acted as defendants facing preset charges.

Judge Estes guided the group through the process, creating a genuine courtroom atmosphere that highlighted the complexities of the judicial system.

In his tenth month on the bench, Judge Estes shared insights into the workings of the court, including notable statistics about probation cases in Logan County:

The Sheriffs Citizens Academy aims to foster a deeper understanding of law enforcement and the judicial process within the community.

Participants expressed appreciation for the hands-on experience, noting how it provided valuable insight into the challenges faced by judges and the legal system as a whole.
