An erratic driving report on Thursday afternoon resulted in an OVI arrest.
According to the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called around 3:00 PM after a caller said he helped a woman whose vehicle had gone into a ditch.
The caller told dispatch the driver appeared disoriented and unsure of her location before continuing to drive.
The caller followed the vehicle, a blue Chevy Malibu, and provided updates to dispatch.
He reported the driver was driving slowly, failed to stay in their lane, drove left of center several times, partially left the roadway, and almost hit a UPS truck.
The vehicle traveled through several areas, including State Route 540, County Road 5, and County Road 25.
Deputies caught up with the vehicle on County Road 5 and saw it moving slowly with several vehicles backed up behind it.
The car crossed the center line and made a wide turn into the opposing lane at an intersection before deputies initiated a traffic stop.
During the stop, deputies reported the driver repeatedly locked and unlocked the vehicle and struggled to roll down the window.
The driver, Lindsay Aungst, 44, of Lakeview, showed several signs of intoxication.
She denied being under the influence of alcohol or drugs and appeared unaware that she had been driving in a circular route.
When asked for her driver’s license, Aungst was unable to find it even though it was visible in her wallet.
Deputies also said she needed help getting out of her vehicle and smelled of alcoholic beverages.
Aungst was taken into custody on suspicion of operating a vehicle under the influence and transported to the Logan County Jail.
