Construction projects continue across Champaign County

Several road construction projects are set to impact travel across Champaign County with closures and lane restrictions affecting multiple state routes.

Continuing Projects

  • State Route 296 Closure: State Route 296 remains closed between Bates Road and Upper Valley Pike for bridge work. This closure is expected to last through Thursday, July 31.
    Detour: U.S. 68 to Miami Street to Oakland Street.
  • State Route 29: Ongoing lane restrictions in Mechanicsburg between Railroad Street and Alison Road will continue through July. Crews are resurfacing the road, with traffic maintained by flaggers.
  • State Route 4: Also in Mechanicsburg, State Route 4 is reduced to one lane between Maple Grove Road and East Sandusky Street for resurfacing. Traffic is being directed by flaggers.
  • State Route 559: Lane restrictions continue between State Route 29 and Pleasantview Estate in Mechanicsburg. Flaggers are managing traffic as resurfacing work proceeds.
  • State Route 507: Intermittent lane closures will affect State Route 507 between U.S. 68 and State Route 245 daily from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. through September while repaving is underway. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers.

Upcoming Closure

  • State Route 296: A second closure on State Route 296 is scheduled between Upper Valley Pike and U.S. 68 from Friday, August 1, through Thursday, August 21, for additional bridge work.
    Detour: U.S. 68 to Miami Street to Oakland Street.
