Construction projects impact Champaign County Roads

Drivers in Champaign County should prepare for multiple ongoing and upcoming construction projects that will affect several key state highways this summer.

The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) has announced lane restrictions and full closures on several routes as crews continue road resurfacing and bridge repair work across the area.

Continuing Impacts:

  • State Route 296 Closure:
    State Route 296 remains closed between Upper Valley Pike and U.S. 68 through Thursday, July 10, for bridge work.
    Detour: U.S. 68 to Miami Street to Oakland Street.
  • State Route 296 Closure (New Segment):
    Starting Friday, July 11, through Thursday, July 31, State Route 296 will be closed again, this time between Bates Road and Upper Valley Pike, for continued bridge work.
    Detour: U.S. 68 to Miami Street to Oakland Street.
  • State Route 29 (Mechanicsburg):
    Reduced to a single lane between Railroad Street and Alison Road through July for resurfacing. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers.
  • State Route 4 (Mechanicsburg):
    Reduced to a single lane between Maple Grove Road and East Sandusky Street through July. Flaggers will manage traffic flow.
  • State Route 559 (Mechanicsburg):
    Reduced to a single lane between State Route 29 and Pleasantview Estate through July for resurfacing. Traffic is maintained via flaggers.
  • State Route 507:
    Intermittent lane closures between U.S. 68 and State Route 245 continue daily from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. through September as crews repave the roadway. Flaggers will be present.

  • State Route 296 Closure (Repeat Segment):
    State Route 296 will once again be closed between Upper Valley Pike and U.S. 68 from Friday, August 1, through Thursday, August 21, for additional bridge work.
    Detour: U.S. 68 to Miami Street to Oakland Street.
