Champaign County motorists should prepare for delays and detours as several road construction projects are currently underway or scheduled to begin soon.

The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) is advising drivers to use caution in work zones and to stay updated through OHGO.com.

Current Projects:

  • State Route 29 Lane Restrictions:
In Mechanicsburg, State Route 29 is reduced to one lane between Railroad Street and Alison Road due to a resurfacing project. Work began in mid-April and is scheduled to continue through July. Traffic is being maintained with flaggers.
  • State Route 4 Lane Restrictions:
State Route 4 is down to one lane between Maple Grove Road and East Sandusky Street in Mechanicsburg. Crews are resurfacing the roadway, and work will continue through July.
  • State Route 559 Lane Restrictions:
Also in Mechanicsburg, State Route 559 is restricted to one lane between State Route 29 and Pleasantview Estate for resurfacing. Flaggers are managing traffic through July.
  • State Route 507 Lane Restrictions:
State Route 507 is experiencing intermittent lane restrictions between U.S. Route 68 and State Route 245 from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily. Paving is expected to continue through September.

Upcoming Closures:

  • State Route 296:
Three separate closures are planned over the summer for bridge repairs:
    • From June 23 through July 10:
Two closures will occur — one between Upper Valley Pike and U.S. Route 68, and another between Bates Road and Upper Valley Pike.
Detour: U.S. Route 68 to Miami Street to Oakland Street.
    • From August 1 through August 21:
